Mad's Friday Favorites - July 19

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!! I am living a "we can let July just be July" summer a lot more than a "hot summer nights mid July" summer and thats perfectly okay with me. I am leaning into slowing down, having spontaneous fun with my family instead of focusing so relentlessly on work. I know this baby comes in less than 3 months and I need to prepare for maternity leave, but for now I am enjoying the fun of summer.

Now onto the faves...

  • Simplified Skincare + Makeup - About a year ago I started simplifying my skincare and makeup routine in an effort to save time and money. I think I fiiiinally have it figured out. My full routine + products used is linked here. I love that I can do my makeup in 5 minutes in the morning. I never was a daily makeup person, but since becoming a mom I feel like I need a few extras to make me feel more like myself each day.
  • Hokas - Not groundbreaking, but I am occasionally reminded how thankful I am for these sneakers. They are a game changer when it comes to tired swollen feet whether thats from summer heat, pregnancy or just a long day on your feet. I personally have been experiencing all 3 at once on long cooking days. I wear the Hoka Clifton's. I find that they take a couple wears to fully break in, but after that its like walking on clouds.
  • Mini Decluttering Sessions - there are so many spaces in our home that need to be cleaned out and organized but the idea of taking a full day or even half day to work on that is out of the question. I am giving up on my all or nothing attitude and carving out time for mini decluttering sessions. I find that 15-30 minutes is perfect for 1-2 kitchen cabinets or a few dresser drawers. The feeling of having something done rather than perfect feels pretty great.
  • Getting Cozy in the Air Conditioning - I can't be the only one who is absolutely obsessed with needing a little blanket and sweatshirt to cozy up in the AC. I get on the couch at night with my pint from Ninja Creami (currently testing 15+ flavors to share!!), my sweatshirt on, fuzzy blanket on my lap and my pup cuddled up at my side and I couldn't be happier. We are reality TV people so lately its been a rotation of RHONJ, RHOC, Big Brother and The Phillies. This is my current fave sweatshirt + blanket combo for summer.
  • A TMI fave - I think I'll start sharing one TMI favorite a week - something that maybe is a little embarrassing to share, but also might be helpful! This ingrown hair tonic is a game changer. I got one really bad ingrown hair in my armpit earlier this summer so I started researching what to use. This came up as a suggestion and now I roll it on after each time I shave my armpits and bikini line and have had zero issues with ingrown hairs.

Hope you all have a beautiful summer weekend! I have plans to play around with recipes with my sourdough starter and hit up the farmers market.

I am ALL for convenience and shortcuts (mom of 2 wild little boys here), but there are a few items lately that I have found are just so much better homemade. + I think I am saving money in the long run by making vs. buying. Super Soft Sandwich Bread - we realized our 2 year old LOVES a homemade uncrustable, but I just didn't love any of the soft white bread options at the grocery store. Now I use this recipe and a homemade uncrustable cutter to make our own. Salad Dressings - It's just so...

No matter who you're celebrating with, make valentine's day a night to remember with this perfect Valentines Day dinner menu. Start the evening with a small cheese board to share while you cook. I like to do a small wedge of triple cream brie, green grapes, fig jam and some simple salty crackers. For the entree I am making a reverse sear filet mignon with truffle mushroom risotto and air fryer asparagus. If you are not a mushroom person I highly recommend swapping that out for these mashed...
